HOW I GOT HERE

Daniel Robertson

On April 23, 2014, my career changed. The former 1,005th overall pick in the 2008 draft became the 18,207th player to play in the major leagues. I often wonder if that day was the pinnacle of my life’s work or just the beginning. It was a day I will surely remember for the rest of my life. But the people I have met since that day have changed my life forever. I was just a kid from a mobile home park and I ended up playing alongside and against some of the greats. Throughout my journey, I feel fortunate to have watched some the best to ever do it make adjustments and struggle with some of the same things I struggled with. Watching them push through and adjust were the only live examples I had. These stories and sequences helped shape my approach and the way I attacked the game on a daily basis. I used their response to failure as a way to find my own way through failure and find success. I hope that these stories can be examples for you in dealing with your own struggles. How they failed is how I failed and without that open failure I would have never been able to learn. I want my experiences to help the next wave of players. I know you love this game. I love it too. So if you’re looking for a place to get to know baseball, this is your spot!
